Matt Holliday and Albert Pujols belted home runs and Skip Schumaker added three hits - included a two-run double - as the visiting St. Louis Cardinals snapped the Florida Marlins' four-game winning streak with a 7-4 win on Thursday.
Holliday's three-run shot in the first came against Marlins starter Clay Hensley (1-4), who lasted only 2 1/3 innings. Pujols hit a solo homer in the fourth against Burke Badenhop.
Florida scored a run in the eighth, but Fernando Salas came on and got Gaby Sanchez to fly out to leave the bases loaded. Salas worked a perfect ninth to secure his 20th save of the season.
St. Louis third baseman David Freese left with a mild concussion after being hit in the helmet with a Hensley pitch in the third inning.
Florida shortstop Hanley Ramirez sat out with a sprained left shoulder.
Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina began serving a five-game suspension for his actions in Tuesday's game at Milwaukee. Molina bumped umpire Rob Drake multiple times and sprayed him with spittle while arguing a called third strike.
