Greg Dobbs homered and pushed home the go-ahead run on a bases-loaded walk in the eighth inning as Florida earned a 7-5 road win against the Chicago Cubs on Sunday afternoon.
Dobbs, who had hit a two-run homer in the first inning to give the Marlins an early lead, drew a free pass with two out against Cubs reliever Kerry Wood (1-5). Logan Morrison followed with a two-run single to stretch Florida's advantage to 7-4.
Chicago's Aramis Ramirez doubled home a run in the bottom of the inning to make it a two-run game, but Leo Nunez shut the Cubs down in the ninth to save the win for Edward Mujica (8-2), who pitched a scoreless seventh inning.
Starter Randy Wells worked six innings for the Cubs, allowing four runs on eight hits and three walks. Florida starter Chris Volstad lasted just three innings, giving up four runs on six hits, but Burke Badenhop contributed three innings of perfect relief to keep the Marlins close.
Emilio Bonifacio singled in the fifth inning to extend his hitting streak to 16 games.
