Jered Weaver pitched seven solid innings and the visiting Los Angeles Angels ruined the return of manager Jack McKeon with a 2-1 victory over Florida on Monday as the Marlins matched a franchise-worst 11th straight loss.
McKeon, 80, who replaced Edwin Rodriguez on an interim basis, became the second-oldest manager in major league history. He managed the Marlins to a World Series title after taking over in the middle of the 2003 season. Rodriguez resigned Sunday with the Marlins in the midst of a terrible stretch - they are 1-19 in June and have lost 21 of 23 overall.
Weaver (9-4) allowed one run, five hits - all singles - and struck out six in seven innings to win his third consecutive decision. He has pitched at least six innings in all 16 of his starts this season.
Jordan Walden pitched a perfect ninth for his 17th save.
Torii Hunter tied it at 1 with an RBI single in the sixth and had a run-scoring groundout in the eighth against Steve Cishek (0-1).
Marlins starter Anibal Sanchez, who has won his last six decisions, allowed one unearned run over seven innings.
The start of the game was delayed 1:43 because of rain.
