Chris Capuano pitched a two-hitter, and Justin Turner and Lucas Duda ripped two-run doubles as the New York Mets recorded a 6-0 victory over the visiting Atlanta Braves on Friday.
With Hurricane Irene looming, the teams opted to postpone Saturday and Sunday's contests. Those games will be played as a doubleheader Sept. 8.
Capuano (10-11) secured his fourth career complete game - and first since 2006 - after striking out a career-high 13 batters. The shutout was the Mets' first since R.A. Dickey blanked the Philadelphia Phillies on Aug. 13, 2010.
Ruben Tejada, Angel Pagan and Duda had three hits apiece, and Nick Evans and Josh Thole added back-to-back RBI singles in the fifth for New York, which has won two in a row after dropping five straight.
Dan Uggla had a broken-bat single in the fifth and David Ross doubled in the eighth for Atlanta, which fell for the second time in nine games.
The Braves lead the Giants by 8 1/2 games in the National League wild card race.
Tim Hudson (13-8) saw his four-game winning streak come to an end after permitting four runs on 11 hits in 6 1/3 innings. He has dropped three decisions to the Mets this season.
