Martin Prado homered and drove in a pair of runs in his return from the disabled list Friday night as the host Atlanta Braves routed the Washington Nationals 11-1 for the 10,000th victory in franchise history.
Prado, out since June 7 with a staph infection, started at third base in place of the injured Chipper Jones and went 2-for-5, including his ninth homer of the year. Prado also scored twice to lead the Braves to their 10th victory in their last 11 home games.
Rookie Freddie Freeman added two hits and three RBIs.
Every starter in the Atlanta lineup had at least one hit, including pitcher Tim Hudson, who was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Hudson (9-6) allowed one run and struck out seven in winning his fourth straight decision. Hudson’s ERA over his last five starts is 1.83.
Washington’s Livan Hernandez (5-9) lasted four innings and was victimized by shaky defense. The Nationals made three errors behind him, which led to three unearned runs.
