Freddie Freeman hit a pair of home runs and Tommy Hanson won his 10th game in the Atlanta Braves’ 4-1 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Monday at Turner Field.
Hanson (10-4) won his fifth straight start and lowered his ERA to 2.52. He allowed only one run, four hits and struck out six in seven innings, making a case to be added to the National League All-Star team.
Hanson ranks fourth in the league in victories and ERA. Craig Kimbrel pitched a perfect ninth inning for his 25th save, one away from tying the record for the most by a rookie prior to the All-Star Game.
The Braves got three runs off Ubaldo Jimenez (3-8), who threw a no-hitter against them a year ago.
Two runs came in the first inning when Freeman launched an opposite-field two-run homer, his 10th, to left field with two outs in the first inning. Freeman added a solo homer, his 11th, off reliever Matt Reynolds in the eighth inning.
