Martin Prado homered and Freddie Freeman drove in a pair of runs as the Atlanta Braves avoided a sweep with a 4-3 victory over the visiting San Diego Padres on Wednesday.
Brian McCann added an RBI and scored a run for the Braves, who have scored four runs or less in 14 of their last 16 games.
The Padres had their season-high four-game winning streak come to an end.
Freeman snapped a 2-2 deadlock when his double in the third off Clayton Richard (2-6) brought in McCann. Prado’s eighth homer - a solo blast - in the sixth provided some insurance for Tommy Hanson (6-4), who allowed two runs on three hits in six innings to pick up the win.
Craig Kimbrel struck out a pair in the ninth en route to his 16th save. Jordan Schafer bailed out Kimbrel with a catch up against the wall in center to secure the final out.
Dan Uggla continues to struggle for Atlanta, going 0-for-4 on Tuesday to run his latest slump to 4-for-51 and drop his batting average to .175 - the second-lowest mark in the majors.
