Alex Gonzalez drove in three runs with a bases-loaded double in a decisive four-run sixth inning to lead the host Atlanta Braves to a 6-2 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday night.
Gonzalez laced a drive into left field off Milwaukee starter and loser Yovani Gallardo (2-2) that scored Chipper Jones, Dan Uggla and Freddie Freeman. Gonzalez, who scored on Nate McLouth’s single, was 2-for-4 and lifted his average to .241.
The outburst helped make a winner of Atlanta’s Jair Jurrjens, who produced his fourth consecutive strong start since coming off the disabled list. Jurrjens (3-0) allowed seven hits and two runs in 7 2/3 innings, and struck out four to lower his ERA to 1.52.
Eric O’Flaherty got the final out of the eighth inning and closer Craig Kimbrel, who had a blown save and a loss in his last two appearances, pitched a scoreless ninth.
Atlanta also got a solo homer by David Ross, his third, and a sacrifice fly by Freeman.
Yuniesky Betancourt drove in both Milwaukee runs with a triple in the fourth that scored Casey McGehee and Corey Hart.
