Justin Smoak hit a three-run homer and had five RBIs, and Erik Bedard turned back the clock as the Seattle Mariners defeated the host Detroit Tigers 10-1 on Wednesday.
Miguel Olivo added two hits and an RBI, and Ichiro Suzuki drove in a run to spark a six-run ninth for the Mariners.
Smoak hit a two-run blast in the series opener on Tuesday and went deep again in the first inning Wednesday to push his home run total to four. The 24-year old had missed the previous eight games following the death of his father.
Bedard (1-4) allowed one run on five hits in seven innings, his longest outing since May 5, 2009. The veteran lefthander, who sat out all of 2010 following arm surgery, struck out three and did not issue a walk.
Justin Verlander (2-3) surrendered only five hits and struck out eight but allowed four runs - three earned - in six innings.
Miguel Cabrera had an RBI double for the Tigers.
