David Murphy went 4-for-4 and hit two of Texas' four home runs as the Rangers defeated the visiting Cleveland Indians 10-4 on Tuesday.
Josh Hamilton hit a tie-breaking two-run homer in the fifth while Adrian Beltre added a solo home run as the Rangers improved to 7-1 against the Indians this season.
Texas maintained its three-game lead over Los Angeles in the American League West. The Angels won at Oakland 6-3 on Tuesday.
Hamilton's home run broke a 2-2 tie. Murphy's homers came in the second and fourth. All three were against Justin Masterson (11-10), who had allowed seven home runs in 200 1/3 innings going into the game.
Beltre's home run came in the seventh off Zach Putnam, who was facing his first hitter in the major leagues. The homer extended Beltre's hitting streak to 17 games.
Matt Harrison (12-9) allowed three runs in five innings.
Carlos Santana hit solo home runs in the fourth and eighth for Cleveland.
Texas took an 8-3 lead with a four-run sixth. Elvis Andrus, who has hit safely in all eight games against the Indians, had a two-run double.
