Orlando Cabrera homered with two outs in the top of the ninth inning to lift the Cleveland Indians to a 5-4 victory over the host Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday.
Cabrera’s blast to left field off J.J. Putz (1-2) broke Cleveland’s three-game losing streak and stretched Arizona’s losing skid to three games.
Rafael Perez (3-1) struck out Miguel Montero with runners on second and third to end the eighth inning and Chris Perez worked the ninth for his 19th save.
Kelly Johnson hit a game-tying triple in the eighth for Arizona.
Cleveland third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall went 2-for-4 with a run-scoring single in his major league debut. Chisenhall was a first-round pick in 2008.
Asdrubal Cabrera hit a two-run homer in the first inning and Travis Buck had a run-scoring single in the sixth for the Indians.
Arizona scored three first-inning runs off Mitch Talbot on Stephen Drew’s triple, Justin Upton’s single and Chris Young’s double. Talbot didn’t allow another hit before leaving after five innings.
Diamondbacks starter Ian Kennedy gave up four runs and eight hits in eight innings. He struck out eight.
