Mark Buehrle pitched 7 2/3 scoreless innings and the Chicago White Sox posted their fourth consecutive victory, beating the visiting Minnesota Twins 3-0 on Monday.
Buehrle (11-6) gave up four hits and struck out four to win for the fifth time in six decisions as the White Sox moved within five games of first-place Detroit in the American League Central.
Tyler Flowers drove in two runs for the White Sox with a second-inning sacrifice fly and a seventh-inning double.
Jesse Crain recorded the final out in the eighth and Sergio Santos pitched a perfect ninth for his 27th save as the White Sox handed Minnesota its eighth loss in nine games.
Alejandro De Aza doubled with one out in the second and stole third before scoring on Flowers’ fly ball to center.
Dayan Viciedo singled to lead off the seventh and was sacrificed to second before Flowers doubled to left-center field to make it 2-0.
Chicago added a run in the eighth when Alexei Ramirez scored from second on Viciedo’s infield single.
Twins star Joe Mauer missed his sixth consecutive game with neck stiffness.
Minnesota’s Kevin Slowey (0-3) gave up two runs and six hits in seven innings.
