Paul Konerko and Alex Rios both hit seventh-inning home runs and Philip Humber worked 7 2/3 strong innings as the Chicago White Sox pulled away for an 8-2 victory at Arizona on Sunday afternoon.
The White Sox held a slim 1-0 lead going into the seventh inning before Konerko and Rios hit solo homers against Josh Collmenter (4-3). Chicago broke it open with five runs in the eighth before the Diamondbacks finally got on the board against Humber (7-3), who won his fourth consecutive start.
A.J. Pierzynski hit a three-run double in the eighth inning for Chicago, while Alexei Ramirez had a pair of runs batted in. Humber scattered seven hits over 7 2/3 innings.
Collmenter worked seven innings for the Diamondbacks, giving up three runs on five hits. Esmerling Vasquez surrendered all five Chicago runs in the eighth inning.
