Dan Haren carried a shutout into the seventh inning, and the Los Angeles Angels held off a late rally to finish a three-game road sweep of the Chicago White Sox with a 4-2 win on Sunday afternoon.
Haren (4-0) scattered seven hits and two runs in the win, striking out six in 6 1/3 innings.
The Angels (10-5) drew first blood against Chicago starter Mark Buehrle on Torii Hunter's first-inning sacrifice fly and scored again in the third on a double to right field by Bobby Abreu. Mark Trumbo hit a solo homer against Buehrle in the fourth inning to make it 3-0, and Alberto Callaspo stretched the lead to four with an RBI single in the sixth.
Buehrle (1-1) lasted seven innings, striking out five while allowing 10 hits and four runs.
Chicago (7-8) got on the board in the seventh inning against Haren on RBI singles by A.J. Pierzynski and Alexei Ramirez before putting together a ninth-inning rally against closer Jordan Walden.
Carlos Quentin led off with a double to right field and Alex Rios followed with a walk. After a two-out walk to Omar Vizquel loaded the bases, Walden retired Juan Pierre on a fly out to left field.
