Crawford doubled high off the Green Monster to score pinch-runner Jose Iglesias from first base off Jim Hoey (0-1). Hideki Okajima (1-0) picked up the win in relief.
Boston’s Josh Beckett threw seven shutout innings and allowed six hits - all singles - and struck out five. Nate Blackburn allowed one run on seven hits in 6 1/3 innings for the Twins.
Boston took a 1-0 lead in the fifth as Adrian Gonzalez drove in Jason Varitek with a two-out single. Varitek led off the inning with a double.
