Jason Vargas pitched seven solid innings and the Seattle Mariners rallied past the Boston Red Sox 5-4 for their fourth straight win on Friday night.
The Mariners (12-15) trailed 4-2 but scored once in the fifth and added two more in the seventh, capped by an RBI single off the wall by Jack Cust. Miguel Olivo had tied the game a batter earlier with a run-scoring groundout.
Vargas (1-2) allowed four runs on eight hits to pick up the win. Brandon League pitched a perfect ninth for his sixth save of the season as Seattle pitchers retired the final 13 batters they faced.
Daisuke Matsuzaka started for the Red Sox (11-14) but left the game in the fifth inning after suffering from right elbow tightness. He had allowed just one earned run on two hits but walked four before departing.
Mike Cameron belted a pair of home runs for Boston, his first two of the season.
Bobby Jenks (1-2) took the loss after surrendering two runs in the seventh.
