Asdrubal Cabrera's squeeze bunt in the eighth inning scored the only run of the game, leading the Cleveland Indians to a 1-0 win over Boston on Wednesday. The Red Sox, the favorites to win the World Series, are now 0-6.

Adam Everett drew a walk off Daniel Bard (0-2) to start the eighth. Everett stole second and went to third on Orlando Cabrera's sacrifice bunt. On a 2-1 count, Asdrubal Cabrera bunted down the third base line, scoring Everett.

Rafael Perez (2-0) retired two batters in the eighth to pick up the win, and Chris Perez pitched the ninth for his second save for the Indians (4-2).

The Red Sox, who were held to three hits, hadn't started a season 0-6 since 1945.

Both starters pitched seven shutout innings. Jon Lester gave up three hits, struck out nine and walked three, a major improvement from his Opening Day start against Texas, when he allowed five runs, including a career-high three homers, in 5 1/3 innings. Lester didn't strike out a batter for only the second time in his career in that loss.

Fausto Carmona was just as effective for the Indians. He held Boston to two singles, struck out four and walked two. The righthander was hammered for 10 runs on 11 hits in three innings against the White Sox in his first outing of the season.
