Aubrey Huff hit a two-run homer and Madison Bumgarner kept the St. Louis offense in check as the San Francisco Giants beat the Cardinals 6-3 Friday.
Huff's 21st home run of the season, a shot to right-center off Blake Hawkswort, gave the Giants a 5-1 lead. It was his first home run since July 30, a span of 18 games.
Pablo Sandoval also went deep for the Giants, who have won two straight.
Bumgarner (5-4) kept St. Louis at bay until the eighth inning, allowing two runs on nine hits before departing with the game well in hand. He allowed two runs on nine hits while walking one and striking out five.
Albert Pujols homered in a losing cause for the Cardinals, who have dropped a season-high five games in a row.
Jake Westbrook (1-1) took the loss, allowing three runs on seven hits over six innings. He walked two and struck out seven.
