Wade LeBlanc pitched seven solid innings and San Diego jumped all over Tim Lincecum as the visiting Padres routed the host San Francisco Giants 8-2 on Sunday afternoon.
Miguel Tejada’s two-run single capped a four-run second inning against Lincecum, who lasted just 3 2/3 innings as the Padres improved their National League West lead to 3 1/2 games over second-place San Francisco.
The light-hitting duo of Tony Gwynn Jr. and Everth Cabrera also delivered run-scoring singles in the second against Lincecum (11-7). The two-time Cy Young Award winner gave up six runs, five earned, on eight hits in his second straight poor outing.
LeBlanc (7-10) limited San Francisco to two runs and four hits while striking out seven. Relievers Joe Thatcher and Ernesto Frieri each pitched hitless innings.
Buster Posey had three of San Francisco’s four hits, including a two-run homer in the third.
Tejada went 3-for-4 for the Padres, and Yorvit Torrealba and Chase Headley each had two hits. Torrealba homered in the fifth and Headley singled in a run in the sixth.
