Rod Barajas hit a three-run homer in his first game with his new team and Ted Lilly stayed perfect as the Los Angeles Dodgers topped the Milwaukee Brewers 5-3 on Tuesday.
Matt Kemp added a two-run blast and Jamey Carroll chipped in two hits for the Dodgers, who won for just the fourth time in their last 18 road games.
Lilly (8-8) looked like he was in cruise control with a 2-1 lead in the fifth, but that advantage quickly evaporated when Rickie Weeks hit a two-out solo blast to right to knot it at 2-2. Lilly then allowed a single to Alcides Escobar and an RBI double to Ryan Braun that gave Milwaukee the lead.
It didn’t take long for Los Angeles to strike back with a two-out rally of its own in the sixth. Ron Belliard and Carroll traded singles in front of Barajas, who launched a 2-2 offering from Dave Bush (6-11) over the wall in left-center for a 5-3 lead.
Barajas was acquired from the New York Mets via a trade over the weekend. He finished with three hits.
Lilly allowed three runs and seven hits in 6 1/3 innings to move to 5-0 in five starts since joining the Dodgers.
Hong-Chih Kuo worked the ninth for his fifth save.
