Carlos Ruiz belted a two-run double to cap a seven-run rally as the Philadelphia Phillies posted a 10-9 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday.
Jayson Werth recorded a two-run single, Ben Francisco had an RBI double and Wilson Valdez and Ruiz added RBI singles for Philadelphia, which moved to two games back of the NL East-leading Atlanta Braves with the victory.
Trailing by seven runs in the eighth inning, the Phillies scored four in the bottom half of the frame and then trimmed the deficit to one at 9-8 in the ninth after Casey Blake's fielding error allowed Placido Polanco and Mike Sweeney to score.
