Adam Dunn homered twice and matched his career high with six RBIs to lead the Washington Nationals to a 6-3 victory over the host Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night.
Dunn hit three-run homers in the first and third innings to give Washington a quick 6-0 lead.
Dunn’s first homer was a tape-measure blast that traveled an estimated 460 feet. His second clanked off the right-field foul pole.
Both homers were off Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw (10-7), who had nine strikeouts in six innings. Kershaw gave up six runs on seven hits and walked two.
Los Angeles tallied three times in the fourth on Andre Ethier’s two-run homer and Casey Blake’s run-scoring single.
John Lannan (3-5) pitched six innings and gave up three runs – two earned – and five hits. Lannan struck out two and walked two.
Sean Burnett retired all five batters he faced in the seventh and eighth innings and rookie Drew Storen pitched a perfect ninth for his first career save.
Ryan Theriot had two of Los Angeles’ five hits.
