James Loney homered with one out in the bottom of the 13th inning to lift the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 3-2 victory over the visiting New York Mets on Saturday.
Loney’s one-out blast off Oliver Perez (0-4) was his seventh homer of the season and gave the Dodgers their third win in the last four games.
George Sherrill (1-1), the club's last remaining reliever, recorded the victory by pitching a perfect 13th. The Dodgers bullpen held the Mets hitless over the final 7 2/3 innings.
Los Angeles struck first on Xavier Paul’s sacrifice fly in the first inning and then made it 2-0 in the fourth when Blake DeWitt tripled and scored on Brad Ausmus’ one-out single.
The Mets tied the score in the sixth after James McDonald came on in relief for the Dodgers. With one out, Ike Davis doubled, Jason Bay walked and Rod Barajas singled in Davis for the first run.
Later in the inning, Jose Reyes singled off Jack Taschner to knock in Bay.
Dodgers starter Carlos Monasterios gave up no runs and six hits in five innings. Mets starter Mike Pelfrey gave up two runs and six hits in five innings.
