Yadier Molina homered and drove in four runs and Randy Winn had a pair of RBIs for the St. Louis Cardinals in Friday’s 8-4 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Felipe Lopez had two hits and an RBI as every regular got into the hit column in the 14-hit attack as the Cardinals have taken the first two of the four-game set.
Los Angeles starter Chad Billinglsey (7-5) was the victim of the outburst as he surrendered seven runs and 10 hits in four innings. The right-hander has now lost three of his last four decisions.
Molina’s two-run blast in the fifth broke the game open and made it 8-2.
The Dodgers threatened in the eighth, scoring a pair of runs, but Dennys Reyes got Andre Ethier to ground out with a pair of runners on base to end the threat.
Kyle McClellan (1-2) earned the win with 1 2/3 frames in relief of starter Jaime Garcia, who gave up two runs and eight hits in 3 1/3 innings.
Dodgers outfielder Manny Ramirez was removed from the game after the first inning because of tightness in his right calf and is listed as day-to-day. It was his second game back after coming off the disabled list with an injured right hamstring.
