Juan Uribe hit a two-run homer and Tim Lincecum outdueled Roy Oswalt as the San Francisco Giants defeated the visiting Houston Astros, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon.
Bengie Molina singled with two gone in the fourth inning and Uribe followed with his fourth homer of the season, a shot over the center-field fence. Uribe went 3-for-3 as the Giants defeated Houston for the fifth consecutive time this season.
Lincecum (5-0) won for the first time since April 23. He gave up one run and four hits in eight innings. He struck out five and walked five.
Houston loaded the bases in the ninth before Brian Wilson retired Kaz Matsui on a flyball to left for his eighth save in nine opportunities.
The Astros scored in the first inning when Michael Bourn walked, stole second, moved to third on Lance Berkman’s groundout and scored on a wild pitch by Lincecum. Bourn stole three bases to raise his season-total to a National League-leading 14.
Oswalt (2-5) allowed two runs and six hits in seven innings. He struck out seven and didn’t walk anyone.
Despite pitching well in all eight starts, Oswalt hasn’t won since April 23 due to poor run support.
