Tim Lincecum lived up to his end of the much anticipated Opening Day pitching duel against Astros ace Roy Oswalt.
Lincecum dominated the Astros for seven innings as San Francisco beat Houston 5-2 to start the season.
The Giants got to Oswalt in the second inning for three runs. Oswalt, making his club-record eighth consecutive Opening Day start, lasted six innings while surrendering three runs.
The Astros' offense only managed four hits off Lincecum while striking out seven times against the Giants' ace. Slugger Lance Berkman did not play and will start the season on the 15-day disabled list.
