Dan Uggla went 3-for-3 and drove in three runs as the Florida Marlins downed the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-2 on Sunday.

The Marlins got on the board in the first inning when Uggla hit his 33rd home run of the year with Osvaldo Martinez on base to take a 2-0 lead.

Ronny Cedeno brought the Pirates to within one with a solo homer in the top of the second before Andrew McCutchen hit an RBI single in the fifth inning to even the score 2-2.

Wes Helms appeared to have hit a three-run home run in the sixth, but was it overturned after the review showed that the ball hit the top of the wall. Helms was credited with an RBI ground-rule double to put Florida up 3-2 and Uggla added an RBI double in the seventh as the Marlins tacked on a couple of insurance runs.

Florida’s Anibal Sanchez (13-12) allowed one earned run on four hits over six innings, while striking out seven and walking two to earn the win. Clay Hensley picked up his seventh save.

Brian Burres (4-5) allowed three runs on five hits over 5 2/3 innings in taking the loss. He struck out four and walked two while the Pirates tied an MLB record for the worst road mark in a season at 17-64.
