David Wright homered and drove in three runs to back a strong effort by Jon Niese as the New York Mets cruised to a 6-1 victory over the Florida Marlins on Saturday afternoon.
Rookie Ike Davis had two doubles among four hits with an RBI and Jeff Francouer had a pair of hits and drove in a run for the Mets, who have won 17 of 21 at Citi Field.
Niese (2-2) picked up the win after being activated from the disabled list, allowing one run on six hits with six strikeouts in seven innings.
The Mets gave him an early cushion to work with, scoring a pair in the first inning and three more in the second - highlighted by Wright’s 10th blast of the season - for the 5-0 advantage.
Florida starter Nate Robertson (4-5) was beat up for six runs on seven hits in only 4 2/3 innings.
Ronny Paulino drove in the Marlins’ lone run with a single in the seventh that plated Dan Uggla.
