The San Diego Padres can’t figure out a way to snap their losing ways.
Troy Tulowitzki and Jason Giambi belted two-run home runs for the Colorado Rockies in sending the Padres to their eighth straight defeat with a 4-3 triumph on Friday night.
The duo went deep in the second and third innings, respectively, which was enough support for Aaron Cook.
Cook (5-8) allowed a pair of runs on four hits over 6 1/3 innings to help Colorado snap a three-game losing streak. Huston Street made things stand by tossing a scoreless ninth for the save.
Nick Hundley belted a two-run homer in the seventh - his sixth of the campaign - to get the Padres within a run. Adrian Gonzalez finished 3-for-3 with a walk.
Corey Luebke (0-1) surrendered four runs and five hits over five innings to take the loss in his major league debut.
San Diego’s latest setback didn’t hurt the club in the standings, where they maintain a three-game lead over San Francisco in the NL West.
