Matt Cain was dominant through eight innings and Aaron Rowand drove in two runs as the San Francisco Giants posted a 4-1 win over the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday.
Cain (4-4) allowed one run on just four hits with five strikeouts. The right-hander continued his hot streak as he entered the contest having not allowed an earned run in 17.0 innings.
Pablo Sandoval and Bengie Molina each added RBIs as San Francisco avoided the three-game sweep.
Troy Tulowitzki got to Cain for a solo homer in the fourth - his seventh of the year - but the Rockies couldn’t muster anything more.
Brian Wilson worked a perfect ninth for 13th save of the campaign.
Rowand pushed his team ahead 2-0 with a double to center in the fifth. The Giants added two more in the sixth on a double by Sandoval and Molina’s single that brought him home.
Carlos Gonzalez and Chris Iannetta had two of Colorado’s four hits.
