Barry Zito continued his resurgence with eight solid innings to help the San Francisco Giants to a 5-2 victory over the visiting Colorado Rockies on Friday night.
Zito allowed two runs and five hits in improving his record to 4-0. The left-hander struck out five and walked three.
Jeremy Affeldt got the final out for his second save of the season.
Aubrey Huff reached base four times -- on two hits and two walks -- and doubled in two runs in the fifth for San Francisco’s final runs of the game.
Juan Uribe had a two-run single in the third and Pablo Sandoval had an RBI-single in the fifth.
Carlos Gonzalez secured a run-scoring single in the first for Colorado. The Rockies’ other run scored on a wild pitch in the fifth.
Colorado starter Aaron Cook (1-3) allowed five runs and seven hits in six innings. He walked five and struck out one.
