Mike Pelfrey tossed seven shutout innings as the New York Mets snapped a four-game losing skid with a 5-0 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Thursday.
Jason Bay drove in a run and Luis Castillo had two hits and scored twice for the Mets.
Pelfrey (2-0) allowed just five singles, striking out six and walking none, while adding an RBI single that extended the lead to 4-0 in the fourth inning.
Pedro Feliciano and Francisco Rodriguez came on and combined to hold the Rockies hitless over the final two innings in relief of Pelfrey.
Jorge De La Rosa (1-1) surrendered five runs -- four earned -- and eight hits over six innings, while walking five. He was constantly behind hitters all day and hurt himself with two wild pitches.
Troy Tulowitzki had a pair of hits for the Rockies.
