Aubrey Huff and Pablo Sandoval each had three hits and three RBIs and Matt Cain pitched eight solid innings as the San Francisco Giants produced an 11-2 victory over the visiting Cincinnati Reds on Monday night.
Huff had a two-run double during a five-run first inning and hit his 22nd homer of the season in the eighth. Sandoval had a run-scoring double in the first and a two-run double in the eighth.
San Francisco’s Freddy Sanchez went 4-for-5 with two RBIs during the team’s 17-hit outburst against four Cincinnati pitchers.
Cain (10-10) struck out seven in eight innings while allowing two runs and five hits.
Cincinnati’s runs came on Scott Rolen’s two-run triple in the third inning.
Andres Torres hit a two-run homer in the third for the Giants.
Cincinnati starter Edinson Volquez (3-2) didn’t make it through the first, giving up five runs, five hits and three walks while retiring just two batters.
