Joey Votto had three RBIs, including a tiebreaking homer in the sixth inning, and Bronson Arroyo earned his 100th career victory as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the host Los Angeles Dodgers 5-2 on Sunday afternoon.
Votto also had a two-run single in the ninth to help Cincinnati win for the eighth time in nine games and retain a 3 1/2-game lead over the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Central.
Arroyo (14-7) gave up two runs and seven hits in seven innings. The right-hander struck out six and didn’t issue any walks.
Francisco Cordero worked a perfect ninth for his 34th save.
Cincinnati also received a two-run single in the first inning from Ryan Hanigan.
Matt Kemp homered in the second for Los Angeles and A.J. Ellis delivered a game-tying single in the fifth.
Clayton Kershaw (11-8) struck out 11 in defeat, allowing three runs and five hits in seven innings.
Brandon Phillips went 4-for-5 for Cincinnati. Ellis had a career-high three hits for Los Angeles.
