Rod Barajas hit a two-out homer in the top of the ninth inning, lifting the New York Mets to a 5-4 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday to snap a three-game losing streak.
Reds closer Francisco Cordero (1-2) retired the first two batters of the inning before Barajas untied things. It was the fourth homer for the catcher in the last five games.
Cincinnati had evened things at 4-4 in the eighth inning when Joey Votto and Scott Rolen connected for back-to-back solo home runs off reliever Fernando Nieve.
Barajas’ homer made a winner out of reliever Pedro Feliciano (1-0), who retired one batter to break into the win column.
Francisco Rodriguez pitched a perfect ninth inning for his fourth save.
David Wright homered and Jose Reyes had a pair of hits and drove in a run for the Mets.
