Rookie Scott Cousins singled home Emilio Bonifacio with the winning run in the 10th inning as the Florida Marlins recorded a 7-6 triumph over the Atlanta Braves on Sunday.
The hit was Cousins' first major league base knock. He came on to pinch-hit in that inning for Logan Morrison, who was struck by a foul ball while on deck.
All-Star Hanley Ramirez homered and drove in three runs and rookie Logan Morrison had an RBI double and scored twice for Florida (69-66), which has won four of its last five games.
Burke Badenhop (2-5) worked around a double to retire the side in the top of the 10th inning to pick up the win.
Nate McLouth drove in three and Troy Glaus added an RBI single for Atlanta (79-58), which entered Sunday's contest with a slim one game advantage over the Philadelphia Phillies. The Phillies will face the Milwaukee Brewers later on Sunday.
All-Star Brian McCann and Melky Cabrera also drew bases-loaded walks in the five-run sixth inning for the Braves.
Eric O'Flaherty (3-2) permitted one run and two hits in one inning to take the loss.
