Tim Hudson tossed eight scoreless innings for his fourth straight win and Troy Glaus drove in a pair of runs, leading the Atlanta Braves to a 3-0 victory over the San Francisco Giants Saturday.
Rick Ankiel had an RBI double in a three-run fourth for Atlanta, which entered the day one game ahead of the Philadelphia Phillies in the NL East. The Braves will stay atop the division for at least another day thanks to Hudson (13-5), who entered with a 0.87 ERA in his last three starts.
The right-hander came through with another superb outing, allowing just three hits. Hudson struck out six and walked one. He didn't allow a baserunner until Buster Posey led off the fifth with a single.
Hudson was locked in a scoreless duel with Matt Cain (9-9), who had a 1.52 ERA over his last four starts, until the Braves broke through in the fourth. Glaus hit a bases-loaded single to center and Ankiel followed with a RBI double to right to give Atlanta a 3-0 lead.
Hudson stranded Pat Burrell at third in the eighth to keep the shutout intact and Billy Wagner finished off the three-hitter by striking out the side in the ninth for his 27th save in 33 chances.
Cain suffered his first loss since July 9. The right-hander allowed three runs and six hits in five innings.
