Jeff Francoeur hit a solo home run in the top of the ninth to lift the New York Mets to a 3-2 win against the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday at Turner Field.
Francoeur, who played for the Braves from 2005-09, gave the Mets their only lead of the game with his 10th homer of the season, a shot to right field off Braves closer Billy Wagner (5-2).
Melky Cabrera drove in both of Atlanta’s runs, opening the scoring with an RBI fielder's choice in the second and giving the Braves a 2-1 lead with an RBI triple in the sixth.
The Mets tied it at 1-1 on Jose Reyes' RBI double in the third, and they knotted it again on Chris Carter's RBI single in the seventh.
Manny Acosta (2-1) worked 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief for the win. He walked two but didn't allow a hit. Francisco Rodriguez pitched a perfect ninth for his 23rd save.
Braves starter Derek Lowe allowed one run on six hits over six innings. Mets knuckleballer R.A. Dickey also went six innings, allowing two runs on five hits.
