All-Star Martin Prado belted a pair of solo home runs and Matt Diaz added a two-run shot as the Atlanta Braves erupted for six runs in the sixth inning to cruise to a 7-5 triumph over the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday.
Brian McCann had a three-run double for NL East-leading Atlanta (50-35), which has taken two of three from its opponents in its last four series.
The offensive explosion was enough for Kris Medlen (6-1). The 24-year-old right-hander allowed four runs and seven hits while striking out five in 6 2/3 innings to pick up the win.
Two relievers bridged the gap to former Phillie Billy Wagner, who struck out two in the ninth for his 19th save of the season.
All-Star Ryan Howard belted a two-run homer, Shane Victorino added a solo shot and Jimmy Rollins had an RBI double for Philadelphia (43-40), which fell six games back of the front-running Braves in the division.
Ben Francisco added an RBI single for the Phillies, who have dropped six of their last eight games.
Jamie Moyer (9-8) fared well before the big inning denied his chance to record his 16th 10-win season on Wednesday. The 47-year-old left-hander permitted seven runs and seven hits in 5 1/3 innings to take the loss.
