Jair Jurrjens made a strong return on the mound and at the plate and Brian McCann doubled in a run as the Atlanta Braves topped the Washington Nationals, 4-1, on Wednesday.

Martin Prado doubled and drove in a run for the Braves, who took two of three in the series and have won four of six overall.

Jurrjens (1-3), who was activated from the disabled list to make Wednesday’s start after being out since April 30 with a left hamstring strain, lasted five-plus innings, allowing one run on six hits while walking two and striking out six.

The right-hander, who led the Braves staff with a 2.60 ERA last season, threw 56 of 86 pitches for strikes and drove in a run in the fourth with a single to left.

McCann got things started in the first, doubling home Prado to give Atlanta the early lead. Jurrjens and Prado each drove in runs in the fourth to make it 3-0.

Three relievers bridged the gap to Billy Wagner, who worked a scoreless ninth for his 16th save.

Nationals starter J.D. Martin (0-4) remained winless, giving up three runs on six hits in five innings.

Adam Dunn finished with two hits for Washington, which has dropped six of seven.
