Rookie Jason Heyward hit his 10th home run of the season and Martin Prado had two hits and three RBIs to help the Atlanta Braves beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-3 on Saturday at Turner Field.
Atlanta pitcher Kris Medlen (2-1) continued his strong performance since joining the rotation, allowing three runs on nine hits over six innings.
Atlanta's bullpen took it from there with Peter Moylan, Takashi Saito and Billy Wagner each working perfect innings and tallying two strikeouts apiece. Wagner waited out a 20-minute rain delay before the start of the ninth inning to earn his sixth save in eight opportunities.
Prado singled in the fifth and hit a two-run double in the eighth for his league-leading 22nd multi-hit game. The National League leader in hits also had a sacrifice fly in the sixth.
Pittsburgh starter Brian Burres (2-3) allowed four runs on seven hits over five innings. He gave the Pirates a 3-1 lead with a two-run triple in the fourth, but the Braves tied it on Troy Glaus' two-run double in the fifth.
The Braves have won four in a row and nine of 11. The Pirates have lost four straight and eight of 10.
