Jayson Werth, Shane Victorino and Placido Polanco homered to power the Philadelphia Phillies past the Atlanta Braves, 5-3, on Sunday.
Raul Ibanez added an RBI and Chase Utley scored a run for the Phillies, who have won seven of nine.
Philadelphia jumped on top early when Werth was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Ibanez added a sacrifice fly off Atlanta starter Kenshin Kawakami. Polanco tacked on his solo blast in the second and Werth added his seventh homer in third.
Kawakami fell to 0-6 and was charged with all five runs and seven hits in 6 2/3 innings.
Cole Hamels struggled through five innings but hung on to earn the win, allowing three runs and eight hits while walking four and striking out five. The left-hander worked his way out of trouble in each of the first four frames before finally breaking in the fifth, when he yielded RBI singles to Melky Cabrera and Troy Glaus as the Braves pulled to within 4-3.
Chad Durbin and Jose Contreras combined for three hitless frames before handing the ball to closer Brad Lidge, who tossed a perfect ninth for his first save of the season.
