Miguel Montero hit a three-run double and Mark Reynolds belted a three-run homer to help the Arizona Diamondbacks rout the host San Francisco Giants 11-3 on Saturday night.
Montero’s bases-clearing double highlighted a six-run first inning against Giants starter Barry Zito.
Reynolds’ fourth-inning homer off Zito (8-10) gave the Diamondbacks a 9-1 lead.
Adam LaRoche also had three RBIs, including a two-run homer in the ninth.
Arizona rookie Daniel Hudson (4-1) was the beneficiary of the offensive explosion. Hudson gave up two runs and four hits and struck out six in seven innings as the Diamondbacks won their third straight game.
San Francisco has lost three straight games, including two to Arizona, and remains six games behind San Diego in the National League West.
Zito lost for the 10th time in 13 decisions. He was rocked for nine runs - seven earned - in 3 2/3 innings. Zito gave up six hits, walked five and hit two batters.
San Francisco’s Pablo Sandoval hit his 12th homer of the season in the fourth.
