Adrian Gonzalez belted a three-run homer and Miguel Tejada added a two-run shot to help the San Diego Padres win their ninth straight over the Arizona Diamondbacks at Petco Park with a 9-3 triumph on Wednesday night.
Yorvit Torrealba had a pair of RBIs, David Eckstein scored three times and Wade LeBlanc pitched 6 2/3 steady innings for San Diego, which has captured 13 of its past 16 games.
The win gave the Padres (76-49) one more than last year’s season total and pushed them 6.5 games clear of San Francisco in the National League West.
Stephen Drew hit a pair of home runs among four hits and Adam LaRoche drove in a run for the last-place Diamondbacks, who have lost seven of nine.
LeBlanc (8-11) allowed three runs on seven hits while striking out seven.
The Padres fell behind by a run in the first, but grabbed the lead for good on Tejada’s long ball in the bottom half. Gonzalez’s 26th homer in the fourth pushed his squad ahead by seven runs.
Arizona starter Joe Saunders (1-4) was charged with nine runs - six earned - over just four innings.
