Wilson Valdez plated Cody Ransom with an RBI single in the bottom of the 11th inning as the Philadelphia Phillies extended their season-high winning streak to eight with a 3-2 triumph over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday.
Valdez had three hits, Raul Ibanez belted a solo home run and Carlos Ruiz added an RBI double as Philadelphia claimed its 11th win in a row at Citizens Bank Park.
The victory - coupled with the NL East-leading Atlanta Braves' 5-3 loss to the Washington Nationals on Thursday afternoon - moved the Phillies to within 2.5 games of first place.
Jose Contreras (5-3) was credited with the win after pitching one scoreless inning.
Miguel Montero blasted a solo home run and his groundout in the ninth plated Justin Upton to tie the game for Arizona, which has dropped seven consecutive games and fell to 13-36 on the road this season.
Esmerling Vasquez (1-4) permitted one run and three hits and walked three to suffer the loss.
