Albert Pujols drove in five runs and hit a pair of two-run homers, leading the St. Louis Cardinals to an 8-0 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday night.
Pujols homered in the first and fifth off Dontrelle Willis. The Cardinals slugger has 18 homers, two behind Toronto's Jose Bautista, who leads the majors with 20.
Pujols also doubled in a run in the sixth.
Adam Wainwright (11-5) pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing five hits and striking out seven. The right-hander is second in the majors in wins, trailing only Colorado's Ubaldo Jimenez, who has 14.
Wainwright also drove in a run with a fifth-inning single.
Willis (2-3) turned in another poor outing. He pitched four innings, giving up five runs, seven hits and six walks. Willis faced four batters in the fifth and threw 80 pitches for the game.
Felipe Lopez was 4-for-5 for the Cardinals with three runs scored.
