Adam LaRoche belted two of Arizona's four home runs, and Dan Haren struck out nine over eight strong innings as the Diamondbacks cruised to a 7-2 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday night.
LaRoche went back-to-back with Mark Reynolds in the third inning, and added his ninth home run of the season in the fifth inning as the Diamondbacks ended a two-game losing streak. Chris Snyder added a solo shot in the fourth inning, while Reynolds finished 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs.
The run support was more than enough for Haren (7-4), who scattered two runs and six hits to improve to 3-1 over his last five starts. He was equally effective at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.
St. Louis hurler Adam Ottavino (0-2) struggled against Arizona, surrendering six runs on nine hits in 3 2-3 innings. He walked one and struck out two.
Colby Rasmus hit a solo home run in the sixth inning and Ryan Ludwick added a run-scoring single for the Cardinals, who have lost five of their last six games. Albert Pujols went 0-for-3 and is now mired in a 1-for-18 slump, dropping his average to .296.
