Casey McGehee and Gregg Zaun hit back-to-back homers in a four-run eighth inning on Sunday to help the visiting Milwaukee Brewers to a 6-1 victory and a three-game sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
McGehee’s three-run shot to right field off Esmerling Vasquez broke open a close game, and Zaun followed with his blast to right-center field. Arizona (14-18) fell into last place in the National League West with the loss.
The Brewers struck first on Prince Fielder’s solo homer in the second. Milwaukee made it 2-0 in the fifth when Corey Hart tripled with two out and scored on Chris Narveson’s single.
Arizona cut the deficit to 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth when Adam LaRoche singled in Kelly Johnson with two outs to knock Narveson out of the game.
Narveson (3-0) struck out eight and allowed just three runs in 5 2/3 innings.
Arizona starter Ian Kennedy (2-2) went seven innings and gave up two runs and six hits.
