Rickie Weeks and Jim Edmonds hit homers and Yovani Gallardo won his fourth consecutive start to pace the Milwaukee Brewers to a 3-2 victory over the host Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday.
Gallardo (4-2) struck out 10 in five innings for his third double-digit strikeout game of the season. He allowed three hits and walked four.
Milwaukee closer Trevor Hoffman got Justin Upton to hit into a game-ending double play in the ninth for his fifth save of the season.
Weeks homered in the third and Edmonds homered in the fourth. Milwaukee scored the go-ahead run in the fifth when Ryan Braun came home on a wild pitch by Arizona starter Edwin Jackson.
Arizona took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third on Cole Gillespie’s first major-league homer and a bases-loaded walk to Adam LaRoche.
Jackson (1-4) gave up three runs and six hits in seven innings.
The Diamondbacks had just four hits.
