Alfonso Soriano homered twice and Marlon Byrd added a two-run blast as the Chicago Cubs topped the Arizona Diamondbacks, 10-5, on Sunday.
Left-hander Tom Gorzelanny picked up the win with seven strong innings, allowing two runs on six hits while walking three and striking out 10 for Chicago, which has won three straight.
Soriano continued his torrid pace with a double to go along with the two blasts. The slugger has homered in three straight games while going 7-for-11 to quite the critics at Wrigley Field who booed Soriano while he was struggling in April.
The Cubs jumped on Diamondbacks starter Edwin Jackson with four runs in the first and three more in the third. Derek Lee added a sacrifice fly in the fourth to end Jackson's day.
The Arizona right-hander, who came over in a trade from the Detroit Tigers in the offseason, has been charged with 18 runs and 22 hits in 6 2/3 innings over his last two outings to watch his ERA sky-rocket to 8.07.
Rookie Rusty Ryal hit a two-run homer for the Diamondbacks, who are in the midst of 20 straight games without a day off.
